Minutes of the Business Meeting

March 1, 2016

 

 

The business meeting was called to order at 6:41 PM by President Reed Ostrander

 

Officers attending: Secretary Chip Borona and Treasurer Bill Little.  Members attending:

Banks Edwards, Rick Simmons, Charles Tucker and Donnie Dixon.  We had one guest, Howard Cowgill who is seeking to become a member.

 

I. Reading of the Minutes

A. The minutes of the previous meeting was read by Secretary Chip Borona.

a.   The approval of the minutes was moved by Charles, seconded by Banks and approved by the membership.

 

II. Treasurer’s Report

A.     The Treasurer’s report was read to the club by Bill Little reporting that the current balance is $621.84.

a.       The approval of the report was moved by Charles, seconded by Banks and approved by the membership.

 

III. Announcements

A.     The next business meeting will be held at 6:30PM at Bill’s Train Shed on Tuesday April 5th.

a.       Bill’s not teaching so the GRILL IS ON!! Hot Dogs & Hamburgers & the trimmings will be provided!!  You can also bring your own food to grill, a cover dish or desert. There will be drinks or BYOB. Members can arrive at 5:30 PM to grill and eat dinner, then to stay after the meeting to run trains.  Bill will leave the gate on the side street open.

B.     The next run session will be at held at 6:00PM at Bill’s Train Shed on Tuesday March 22nd.

a.       THERE WILL BE NO FOOD PROVIDED AT THE RUN SESSION AS BILL IS TEACHING.

b.       Bill will leave the gate on the side street open.

C.     Reed will be giving a lunch time presentation to the Pensacola North Rotary Club on May 6th on model railroading.

 

IV. Old Business

A.     Work on Roundhouse Modules

a.       The Club began modifying the 1st module by removing the current folding. The “bottom” surface of the door veneer was removed as well as the paper honeycomb.

b.       A 5mm thick veneer of luan plywood was applied to the underside of the “top” surface of the door to seal it from moisture and ¼ in. plywood ribbing added to create a more rigid platform.

c.       Dave Ramirez’s still needs to create 11 pockets for the removable 2x2 legs

B.     Foley Train Show

a.       Same location as last year. Dates are March 12-13, Saturday from 10AM to 5PM and Sunday from 10AM to 4PM

b.       Setup on Friday March 11th as early as possible. 

c.       As in the past, we will setup a 2x2 plus the 4 corners, larger if possible.

d.       Members planning to attend are shown in the table below.

V. New Business

A.     New Members

a.          Howard Cowgill has expressed interest in becoming a member.

b.          After attending 3 club events, he can then be voted in by the membership.

B.     Presentations

a.          Chip has volunteered to give a molding and casting demonstration.

i)        Date to be determined.

b.          Other demos will be done as work continues of the Roundhouse module.

 

C.     VI. Club Welfare

D.     Steve’s mother had fallen and fractured her hip.

a.       She is doing better after her surgery and is currently in rehab.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:29 PM.
